While the field of neuromodulation has been highly innovative in advancing a variety of novel scientific and clinical ideas and approaches, one area in which it has yet to demonstrate groundbreaking advancement is diversity. This represents a lost opportunity, as converging evidence demonstrates that diversity of experience within teams, organizations, and professions enhances the performance of these groups by increasing their creativity, resilience, and dynamism. This session will focus on the role of diversity in science, industry, and academia, the barriers that commonly impede diversity efforts, and ways to address those barriers. We will discuss specific issues related to the experiences of women, racial and ethnic minorities, and sexual and gender minorities, and audience questions and concerns will be addressed in an open dialogue.
